Perched on Castle Rock above the city, Edinburgh Castle is Scotland's most visited paid attraction. Children tend to love the One O'Clock Gun, the Honours of Scotland and the sheer scale of the views. The climb up the Royal Mile is steep, so a carrier suits little ones better than a buggy.
Open daily 9.30am-5pm from October to March (last entry 4pm). Closed 25-26 December. Redcoat Café on site. Book ahead as tickets often sell out.
