About this place
Built on top of Dumbarton Rock, a volcanic plug overlooking the Clyde. It's a proper climb to the top — around 550 steps — but the views along the river are the reward.
Winter (October-March): open Monday-Wednesday and Saturday-Sunday 10am-4pm, closed Thursdays and Fridays and 24 December-4 January. Summer: daily 9.30am-5pm. Not suitable for prams or wheelchairs: steep, rocky site with many stairs.
