A remarkably complete medieval castle near Stirling, familiar to fans of Monty Python, Outlander and Game of Thrones. The audio guide is genuinely entertaining and the great hall gives a real sense of how a castle worked.
Winter hours (1 October to 31 March): daily 10am-4pm, last entry 3.15pm. Summer: daily 9.30am-5.30pm. Limited parking at the castle; use the village car parks. Audio guide included (download in advance as phone signal is patchy).
